What inspired Dr. Lechusza Aquallo to become a professor?
Alan Lechusza Aquallo came to engaging academia late. After years of professional teaching, he struggled with accepting being an academic. After multiple teaching appointments (part-time through tenured professorship), a failed writing career, Alan Lechusza Aquallo had a very hard heart-to-heart with many in the community who helped him refocus his attention to what he is “called” to do.
Alan Lechusza Aquallo holds a PhD in what discipline?
Alan Lechusza Aquallo hold a PhD in Critical Studies/Experimental Practices, with a sub-study in Ethnic Studies/American Indian Studies. Dr. Lechusza Aquallo is the first Native scholar to write about and receive a doctoral degree in Hip Hop. His dissertation is centered on Native identity in Hip Hop, focusing on the group WithOut Rezervation (W.O.R.). Dr. Lechusza Aquallo has authored three books on Native Hip Hop among hundreds of peer-reviewed articles and conference presentations around the world.
